This is a story about a guy, Isaac, (a famous model/artist) and a girl, Laniah, (owns a beauty store with her mom in a small town) who have been friends since childhood. Isaac now lives in California while Laniah remains in Rhode Island, so they’ve maintained a long distance friendship.
They begin fake dating but soon, Laniah is struggling with her feelings towards Isaac. She’s starting to realize she has real feelings for him.
They agree to fake date for a summer to help promote Laniah’s business, after which they’ll have a planned breakup. Isaac also is having more feelings towards Laniah, and eventually they confess their love for each other. They start actually dating. During this time, Laniah has been seeing a doctor, having bloodwork and tests done, and her doctor says shes a hypochondriac, essentially. Laniah gets a second opinion from a friend that’s a cardiac doctor, and he tells her that her doctor hasn’t been honest, that she’s suffering from kidney failure. After finding this out, Laniah doesn’t want to drag Isaac through her medical journey, especially if she doesn’t get better. So, she tells Isaac that they have to remain only friends. Isaac finds out about what Laniah’s going through, and tells her he will always love her, that he will be there for her and help her.
Eventually they work things out and end up back together, get married, get a house, and live life happily. I loved this book. The love story was unlike any I’ve read previously. It felt authentic and real.
I cried a few times - the struggles of love and relationships and life were so relatable, and I felt so much emotion for the main characters. I hurt for them and just wanted them to be happy in love haha.

This was a good book it was written well especially for this to be the authors’ debut adult fiction novel. I loved the male MC he was so cute and loving and honest. The female MC wasn’t bad either but her constant hesitation to be honest with herself and the male MC was pissing me off.
Wow this was probably the most realistic friends-to-lovers I've ever read. This book also felt deeply personal and very authentic. AND the sex scenes were pretty good!
My only critic is that I wish there was a litttttttttle more romance.
