Evie babygirl I was born to understand your visions

Listened to on audible. A really great story about mental illness in teenagers, particularly OCD, with lots of brilliant feminism thrown in with concepts I didn’t even know of. This would be such a perfect story to read as a teenager and was a really fun audiobook

Wow! I really connected with the book. I loved how raw it was on the topic of mental health. It depicted mental health in a honest fashion with adding or neglecting any unnecessary events. The author was able to really delve into the struggles that young Evie faced and helped to raise awareness of the seriousness of mental health. I was grabbed from the first chapter right throughout this book. Loved the way the thoughts of the Main character were incorporated into each chapter, Really made you experience the feelings of this struggling teen. Very cleverly written, and very touching story. Ps must read in my eyes.

I am so glad that this book exists in the world. At times, I found it difficult to read but that was just because of my own experiences and not a reflection on the book at all. If anything, it just proves how brilliant Am I Normal Yet? is because the story was so realistic. I received my copy during World Book Night and the front cover says "this book is a gift". I completely agree. It's a book I want to share with people and say "please read this so we can talk about it". I loved all the feminist discussion, the creation of the Spinster Club and the strong female friendships it portrayed. I'm sure I'll be recommending it over and over.

"Because now people use the phrase OCD to describe minor personality quirks. "Oooh, I like my pens in a line, I'm so OCD."
NO YOU'RE FUCKING NOT.
"Oh my God, I was so nervous about that presentation, I literally had a panic attack."
NO YOU FUCKING DIDN'T.
"I'm so hormonal today. I just feel totally bipolar."
SHUT UP, YOU IGNORANT BUMFACE."

I read this book by @hollybourneya in one sitting yesterday. It's that good. And it's that important.

This book hit very close to home for me and I was a crying ball of mess about half of the book. But I'm so grateful that Bourne has managed to capture such an honest voice. It contains so much of what is important in our day of age and in my opinion it has a truthful voice.

Do yourselves and the society you live in a favour and read this book. I also think this should be mandatory reading in all schools, all around the world.

I LOVED this book.
It's so heartwarming when you find a book, read the premise, get all excited about reading it and then find out that it's all you expected and a bit more.
It's an easy read, a simple but deep story, with well fleshed out characters that are so wonderfully flawed in a "I want to slap you and also hug you because you're such a teenager and I find it annoying and adorable and I swear life gets better" kind of way.
It's an excellent teen drama with a nice introduction to feminism (with a lot of room to improve, which is to be expected from an introduction) and an exploration into anxiety and mental health issues inna way I've never read before in a YA novel.
I just loved it. I can't wait to read the rest of the books by this author.
100% recommend.

This was a perfect book that speaks about a lot of topics I can relate to and I want everyone out there to read this book. It's simply amazing.

This was my first time reading about a character who has OCD. I hope the book gave an accurate idea about Evie's life, how difficult it is for them to live amidst people who care less about mental health. All the characters were well written. The discussions on feminism were empowering and some facts had me shocking.

If you are looking for a light read that includes friendship, romance, mental health, and feminism, this is the perfect book.

this.was.excellent.

This book is a contemporary but is so much more than the average contemp. It deals with feminism, boys, friendship, and OCD. Honestly everything I could want in a book.

This was SO REAL! It was so raw and was not sugar coated. It was fantastic!! The writing was light but so gripping. I haven't LOVED. a contemporary in abit now and this was just great !

I also liked how it didn't focus on one girl and her romance with one dude. It showed the girl go through many relationships and crushes, which is more realistic than an epic love story.

If you are looking for a contemporary book please give this a read. Also if you read mental illness fiction this is excellent!!!!

One dose mental illness, one dose teens discovering feminism, and one dose teen chick lit. Who could ask for more? It's well written, and might I say a unique plot and set of circumstances. I really enjoyed the subjects it grappled with overtly (mental health, dating, teen friendships etc) as well as the more subtle questions (can someone's love fix you? who am I without my medication? Is this normal? what is normal?).

Definitely worth the read!
