Not my favorite nonfiction ever, but I think that's because its less my style than it's a bad book. This book is the true story of the first flight around the world, which was done by four american fliers and their mechanics during the race to be the first. I think some kids would respond really well to this book and I would put it in any classroom that I felt like were old enough to understand it.

I have always been intrigued by flying. Nearly every child dreams of growing up and being able to fly through the sky. This book takes the reader on a journey around the world with the men who were the first to go around the world. It is an amazing and insightful read about their journey, the trials and the competition among nations to be the first.

I knew nothing about the air race to circumnavigate the globe. It was an entertaining, accessible, and informational read. I also enjoyed all the pictures.

First Flight Around the World was a finalist for YALSA's Excellence in Nonfiction award. Because it was YASLA, I guess I was expecting something geared to a slightly older audience and higher reading level. While the content is appropriate to and interesting at any age, the style seemed oriented to an upper-elementary or middle grade reader. That said, I'm still purchasing it for my high school library.

I'm not a big fan of nonfiction formatted as a picture book. The pictures are well chosen black and white photos, and the graphics are very colorful to balance it out.

Really great YA nonfiction book. I'd definitely recommend this to any fan of history or action-adventure fiction. I thought it was a decent length, had lots of cool pictures, and the colorful layout in contrast to the black and white photos was an excellent deign choice. I could see kids as young as 4th grade to as old as 7th/8th grade enjoying this book.

This nonfiction book describes the American team that was the first flight crew to make it around the world. This novel included fun facts and photos along with a narrative.

This novel was an easy to read nonfiction book. I didn't find it all that interesting, but it is a standard nonfiction book.

This book was about a crew of 8 who by working together navigated their way around the world flying (or helping to construct the airplane to fly) around the world. I loved how it was based on the journal of one of the crew members. I think it give it a whole new perspective and understanding while reading it. I believe students would be pulling this book off the shelf. A high interest topic and well written.

For such an exciting topic, I found the writing a little dull. The layout, illustrations, and design are quite pretty and I'm glad I read it, but overall it was just 'meh.'
