I first heard about this book on the Cooking Light Bullentin Board and thought I would join the challenge. I decided to read the book first and I'm glad I did.

I plan on starting this program on Monday (after I buy a journal today).

This book was very interesting to me for two reasons. The first is that the author has MS with some symptoms very similar to my father's disease. The second is that I found it very interesting the changes her mindset went through over the course of the first couple of weeks.

First sentence: It is 4 a.m. and I am wide awake - again.

Favorite quote: ...this particular giving ritual, which is more about mindfulness and developing a conscious habit of reaching out to others.

I picked up this book thinking it was a light little thought on giving a gift to someone each day for 29 days. This book has so much more to say than that. The concept seems easy enough, but the reasons anyone chooses to embark on the idea vary. For the author who was recently diagnosed with MS, a more severe aggressive form of MS this concept has so much more meaning. How often we dwell on all that is wrong in our lives and with the simple act of mindful giving everything changes. This is a powerful book and I am so glad I read it.

Wondering if this would be a good book group book. I enjoyed both the personal story of Cami's illness and also the story of the giving, how and why it came to be as well as the actual story of her 29 days.

This book was a good reminder that sometimes, our own perspective can be our biggest obstacle. Giving freely without expecting anything in return is not as easy as it sounds, but almost always seems to yield positive results. I love the warm and fuzzy feeling...

I love the premise and truly believe in paying it forward, but the book was a wee bit too New Age for my reading taste. The MS connection is what initially drew me. Anything that can help one through the devasting effects of this disease should be embraced.
