I thought this was a short, fun examination of the ways that giving and gratefulness can effect our daily lives and cultivate happier, healthier, more open hearts. I probably wouldn't have picked this up if it weren't an inexpensive audible deal of the day a few months ago, but I did enjoy it. I'm knocking it down in the rating though for two reasons: 1) while I appreciate that the author saw great changes in her physical health and struggles with MS during her challenge, I was annoyed with her attitude about the entire thing. 2) during this challenge, the author and her husband had to ask for a $16K bailout loan from her parents due to her inability to work regularly and the medical bills that piled up after her diagnosis. then, every time she hit a milestone of some kind they would "go out to celebrate". what? let me tell you how you avoid 16K in unnecessary credit card debt.... stop going out to eat every time you have a good day!

of course, those things annoyed me but not enough to not finish this book and be inspired to start my own giving challenge. November starts in two days, and I think that would be the perfect time to move forward wth a challenge of this nature.

I highly recommend reading this one! It's a wonderful account about a woman experiencing MS who navigates the difficult emotions that come with having an autoimmune disease while evaluating and recognizing her value and worth to those around her. She finds that giving more that she could afford also means becoming open to receiving gifts as well. I give it two thumbs up! 👍👍

I enjoyed this book. Great idea to help those around us. I like how it helped the author manage her pain. Amazing how thinking about others helps us get outside of ourselves.

I enjoyed this book and found hope in the magic of focusing outward on others have healing powers for ourselves. Just like Job says - when I prayed for others, then things began to change for me.

Ubuntu - humanity to others.

My gift - I'm leaving a dollar in the book as I return it to the public library.

This book has a really great message, and one I agree with wholeheartedly. However, I could have done with a bit less of the new-agey stuff. Also, I got a little tired of the whiney tone of the author's voice. I know she was going through a very tough time, and her health is a serious matter, but I felt there was too much focus on her struggles and how badly she behaved.

Not bad, nice quick read. I like the idea but in looking at the website there hasn't been much activity in the past 3-5 years.

I was prepared to be disappointed but ended up loving this. I did not find the author annoying etc. like many reviews. She was open and honest. This truly good food for thought and made for the perfect road trip audiobook.
