Vividly paints Venice in all its evocative and alluring colors and history, along with recipes that sound delicious and have witty conclusions. The love story was unconvincing but some of the characters interesting. Felt more like a travel book, but I enjoyed it for the rich ambience and Venetian atmosphere and features. I'd recommend it for a light, fun read. Indispensible if you happen to be researching Italy for your own writing.
