Vonnegut has an interesting way with words and a very interesting way of looking at the world, and all of that shines through here. In a way, Timequake has nothing to do with what it allegedly is about - everyone having to suddenly relive ten years of their life all at the same time, without being able to change a single thing. In another way, though, that is precisely what this is. Vonngeut wanders down the years of his own life, and the life of Kilgore Trout (his fictional alter-ego), and goes back and forth between 1996, 2001, and a variety of years from when he was younger. It is a disarmingly open and honest book, and after a bit the lines between reality and fiction begin to blur so masterfully that you find yourself wondering whether Vonnegut is making all of it up (or almost none of it).
I highly recommend Timequake to all fans of Vonnegut. You cannot go wrong, and you will not be disappointed.

Not a damn clue what this book was about but at this point I’d read Vonnegut’s grocery list and enjoy it. 5 stars.

I picked this up a few years ago only because it was Vonnegut and not knowing at all what it was about. At first I was confused by the semi autobiographical style of it but if this mother fucker doesn't write the best books ever I don't know who does. Crushed through it in a day or two. Always entertaining and nails the whole "human" thing in every book. It had been awhile since I've read Vonnegut and now I feel like I should throw him in the mix every few books now for a nice palate cleanser. Not that they aren't stimulating, but they are ALWAYS what I am in the mood for.
Can't think of a more-fitting last novel for one of my favorite authors.
Rambling brilliance
I firmly believe that if Kurt Vonnegut wrote a recipe for omelette, it would be 10 pages long and make you rethink what eggs are in the most wonderful way.

Ting-a-ling! My favorite Vonnegut so far! I thought I'd read them all, and lo and behold, I hadn't!
This sublime mish-mash of fiction and non, of fantasy and harsh reality, of down-home wisdom, common sense, and high ideals just blew my mind.
I loved every damn word of it. I loved it!
Joy!
Will try to add more later. I just finished it and am still processing. I read it pretty fast, and may need (WANT) to go through it a second or a third time before I attain the coherence to actually articulate my varied impressions.
For now, I'll only say again: Joy!

Back in her turbulent teen days, my sister insisted that she did not belong in our family, that she was actually the secret love child of Robert Redford and Barbara Streisand (this was back in the "Way We Were" days). While I have never chosen cinematic parents, I will announce that I am the secret love child of Kurt Vonnegut and Margaret Atwood. Wouldn't that be awesome!!
Love Vonnegut and love this captivating collection of his thoughts.

Part memoir, part sci-fi tale that has Kurt’s hapless Kilgore Trout character experiencing a timequake, an event that makes everyone relive the last decade. Laughed out loud more than a few times. To Vonnegut, the world is an absurd and hilarious place. I liked it.
