Were you ever curious about Native American tales, and what sorts of stories are told, then you should read this graphic novel. It has stories from all places about tricksters, and the things that happen to you, or them, should you run into them.
I love that this book made it easy to appreciate different types of stories as well as make the more welcoming to those who want to know more.
Find out what happened to Coyote, Crow, Trickster, and many others as you read these tales and learn from their lessons.

Graphic novels of multiple Trickster stories. Each one is told by a different storyteller and illustrated by different artists, covering many tribes and areas, including Hawaii.

It has a good foundation but it wasn't enough to grab me.
I hate to be so tough on this but some of the art wasn't enjoyable so I would skip whole stories. I'd like to see this again but maybe with a tougher editor and more information about the regions of the trickster stories. It was an ok read!

A nice anthology with a huge range of art and style. I appreciated the authenticity of the stories and the wide tribal representation. It was particularly interesting to see recurring characters across cultures and even variations in the same story.

A wonderful assortment of folktales accompanied by interesting artwork. The collection didn't feel totally coherent because of the differences in style (which were VAST) but this is a brilliant idea and a great way to keep these stories alive and vibrant and show them to a new audience.

I read these stories to my kids (5 and 7) at bedtime. They absolutely loved this collection. It got them through their bedtime routine and in bed on time so they could be ready for the next Trickster story. My 7 year old reread them to my younger kid after lights out with a flashlight. I’m not sure what about these stories captured them so completely compared to the many other stories we’ve read. Maybe because some of them are so bizarre? Maybe because some of them aren’t the typical morality stories kids get (the trickster comes out on top through less than savory means in a few of these stories). Maybe because some stories are origins for animals or geographical landmarks? Maybe because the artwork is different for each story? I don’t know how to capture in words the experience we had reading these out loud together but because it was so positive and it got us all excited and talking about the stories long afterwards, this gets a five star rating from me.
