With a wildfire burning its way toward Paradise Peak, Tennessee, folks are drawing together to save the small mountain community. Times like these can make a hero out of a man—no matter what dark secrets he carries in his heart . . .

A desire for absolution brought ex-con Travis Alden to Paradise Peak. But when he finds honest work, along with a keen sense of belonging, he shelves his plan to unburden his guilty secret, instead working to rehabilitate a ranch—alongside the very people his transgressions hurt the most. With the chance to create a haven for wildfire refugees, Travis seizes the opportunity to do good, to earn the respect his new boss shows him. Only Travis doesn’t count on his feelings for his boss’s beautiful niece.

Hannah Newsome is a woman with a past as bleak as Travis’s—the kind of woman he should protect, not pursue. But once the rugged loner sees her wariness turn to warmth, once he tastes the potent passion between them, all he can think about is having it all right here in Paradise Peak, with Hannah by his side . . .

Thank you, Goodreads and Kensington Books for a chance to read Paradise Peak # 5 in The New Americana series!

“{How is the value of a man measured? With what instrument? And how does a man prove he is worthy of forgiveness?}”

Paradise Peak was a beautiful story and heartbreaking at the same time. I have not read anything else by Janet Daily but she did a wonderful job with this book. You can't help but fall in love with the characters. The lesson about forgiveness was just as beautiful to watch unfold as you read this book. It's like the book says “{Who is forgiveness for, if not for sinners.}”

It really is just a lovely story. I can't help but wonder what the authors other books are like. Happy reading everyone!

Dailey has been one of my favorite authors since I read my first book by here when I was in elementary school. Although I don't read many romances I still enjoy reading her books. As always she told a good story. It started off a bit slow but soon grabbed my attention and once it did I nearly finished the book in one sitting. Very good story about a man that is released from prison and his search to find the mother of the daughter he killed while driving drunk, the family he becomes a part of and the lady he falls in love with. I loved this book.

This is number 5 in the New Americana series. It is a great story filled with forgiveness and redemption. The characters were strong with lots of emotions running high in this book. The forest fire brought some tragedy and intensifyed the story. It also showed well how small towns tend to stick together and help out their own. This was another great read in her new Americana series.

Paradise Peak is a story that takes place in rural Tennessee about community togetherness, redemption, and forgiveness.
Travis begins the story overwhelmed with guilt and in time proves himself to be a better man. I enjoyed reading about the people of Paradise Peak. Hannah was closed-off in the beginning but as she opens her heart to love again, I found myself liking her more as a character. Red was a sweetheart from the beginning and Margaret quickly won me over with her sweet and genuine heart. There is definitely some sadness in this story but the beauty comes when the community pulls together for each other and shows that even a stranger can become family.

CW: loss of a family member (both off and on page), drunk driving (off page), fire

Paradise Peak was fast paced and intense! It was action packed and full of emotions. However, I almost wished for it to slow down a little (which is not where I normally go). It was so fast paced that I felt like the relationships in the story missed a little depth. It was probably just what my brain needed, but I wished for a little more.

Travis is an ex-con, released from prison after a twenty year sentence for killing a woman while driving drunk. Now he is hitchhiking through Tennessee to find the mother of the woman he killed and apologize. He is willing to do whatever he can for forgiveness. After being picked up by a kind old man and taken to his ranch, he discovers the woman he's been looking for, Margaret, is co-owner of the Paradise Peak ranch. Fearing being turned away, he lies about his identity in order to help rebuild her ranch. Hannah, Red's niece, also lives at the ranch and as he helps her to rebuild, he starts to fall in love with her. But if he finally reveals his true identity, he risks losing what feels like the only family he's ever known.
I really liked the description of Travis as a gentle giant, determined to change his life and become a better man. I loved how he became a hero during the forest fire. The slow build of a relationship between him and Hannah from suspicion to friendship to love added more realism to the story. This is my first book by this author , but it certainly won't be the last. I look forward to reading the first books in the series.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The views and opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
