It was cute.

Behind His Lens was an okay and cute book to listen to. In it, you will meet Charley and Jude. She is a model with some secrets and he's a photographer who slowly falls in love with her. Meh, who am I kidding - he falls hard at first glance. It was cute that they "tried" to stay away from one another but when push comes to shove - they were made for one another.

Now sure it was all insta-lust and stuff but at least it wasn't insta-love which I absolutely hate and despise. They actually felt like a real relationship because of how realistically slow they went. Painstakingly slow but I enjoyed it all.

Other than that, the romance was good and kept me interested. However, I was bored a lot while going this audio and I'm not quite sure who to blame. I am happy that I dove into it though - another R.S. Grey book marked off. On to the next one!

Perfection

Another home run for R.S. Grey! I have yet to find a book that I haven't thoroughly enjoyed from beginning to end!

Behind His Lens is a great read!
Jude and Charley officially meet on set as photog and model where we immediately feel the chemistry between them. There are several reasons that either may not want to be in a relationship, yet with their best friends being together and a continued photo shoot, they are unable to fight the pull.
I really enjoyed the characters. Both MCs have emotional damage from occurrences in their pasts, but they are able to heal by coming together.
I enjoyed the pacing and tone as well as the setting and emotional descriptions. R.S. Grey did a wonderful job with this story!

First off can I just say how much I loved the high-fashion photographer and model angle

of the story. I loved the sensuality of that first photo shoot...so hot!

I really enjoyed reading along as Charley and Jude tried to navigate through their attraction and instant connection despite their desire to avoid any type of commitment.

Jude is super alpha but quickly becomes the sweetest guy when he realizes how much he wants to "keep" Charley.

Charley was a little slower on the uptake and did everything to avoid opening up to him.

How can they possibly make it works with the walls they've spent so much time building up?

Overall this story was sort of same old same old NA formula but done in a really great way. Since I'm a huge fan of said formula I'd recommend it to anyone who loves two broken protags who fall in love but stumble their way to a HEA.

*I received an ARC from the author/publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Behind His Lens was a darker and more serious novel by Rachel. It dealt with some hard topics and I enjoyed exploring this side of her writing. I do think Charley's depression was handled not so well at the end because in real life it's not like it suddenly just disappears and that's what happened here. So I wasn't the biggest fan of that but overall I really liked the book.

Charley was a very nice girl. She was creative and funny but I didn't connect with her on some special level and she wasn't the most memorable character.

Jude on the other hand was my favorite person from this whole book. He was so caring and charismatic but also so sweet and charming. I really loved how he was willing to open up to Charley and how he was the one to push the relationship. He was also so understanding and patient. I loved him a lot and I think he was the star of this book.

I liked the side characters too. Naomi and Bennett were great I just wish we got to see more of them. I also liked the Hawaii trip. A nice change of location was very welcome.
Overall this book was very easy to read, I was invested in the story and the romance was pretty good. But I do think that Rachel just thrives more with her rom-coms.

My last RS Grey backlist book and one of the first two she wrote. I only really missed the ones before I found her, and over the last few months I've read all the books I've missed. Behind His Lens is unlike most of her books, but it also might now be one of my all time favorites.

This book was filled with palpitating chemistry between Jude and Charley, it was there from the first photo shoot, and never went away. The chemistry was so hot you would not believe that they don't go all the way until 80% of the book. Jude and Charley wanted each other so badly, but I loved that they waited until they got to know each other, and sorted admitted their feelings.

Charley's depression was written in such a way that I could understand her easily even without experiencing depression myself and that alone is amazing.

Reading all of R.S. Grey's backlist just confirms without a doubt why she is and always will be one of my favorite authors!

This read took me a while, mostly due to me being pregnant and feeling tired or being too busy to read, but also because I just wasn’t really vibing with this book. I’m a big fan of R.S. Grey, I love all of her recent/newer books from the last few years, this is one of the few i’ve read of her older books and although it took me a lot to get into it, I did enjoy the characters and the story. The story, especially the discovery of their pasts being somewhat tragic (and almost made me cry!!), really took me by surprise! I definitely enjoyed this one, but don’t think i’d reread or remember it for a while.

A solid four ⭐️’s. I only had 2 issues. The cavalier way her breakdown was “solved” & the repetition of telling us she wasn’t a model for superficial reasons. It was only to support her painting habit. Other than that, it was a good book with a solid hero.
