Some of the old fairy tales and kind of short on details, so I love that the author picked some of those missing details to fill in. I'm impressed at the author's ability to do this over and over again with these short stories and make the fun to read all on their own.

I'm torn about this book but overall it was utterly delightful and paid so much homage to the original tale while also subtly throwing shade at certain parts that deserved the shade.
Also the Grand Vizier's son got lots of page time and he will forever hold my heart, so that was nice.

I was a little surprised by the one twist and initially disappointed but that dissolved quickly. The ending was really good and handled well.
I highly recommend if you're looking for a fun, quick read. No previous knowledge of the original tale is required :3

I wanted to like this one more, but I guess the thing that bothered me the most about this retelling was that none of the characters were likeable. Sometimes that's not a problem. And I think I really could have liked the princess more if she had not become so selfish at the end. Some events moved a little too quickly and unrealistically for my taste, so that marred a bit of my enjoyment. That being said, I didn't dislike this story. I think I just hoped for more from it. Don't go into this story expecting it to be a retelling of the Disney version of Aladdin though. I didn't, and I'm very glad it WASN'T based on the Disney version, because I think the original is a little more interesting. But I'm thinking this might be my least favorite of the retellings.

A different take on the tale of Aladdin. I would recommend this short read for Disney fans and fairytale fans alike!

I think I would like this short story more if I was familiar with the original story of Aladdin, and not the Disney version.
