LOVED IT!!!
Age gap
Workplace
Friends to lovers
DUET narration - Aiden Snow & Mollie Stark
Loved the narration and the story!
This is the first in the series and follows Lily and Owen.
Lily is Owen’s brothers ex girlfriend and his new assistant as he tries to navigate the sale of his families lumber business.
Lily is younger and trying to save up to move to NYC for college and to live with her best friends.
Owen is older and only back in town for the sale of his family’s business.
I loved that they developed a friendship and mutual respect for each other before becoming more.
I can not wait for the rest of this series to be in audio!

“He’s probably been with dozens of women, and I’m just a lame small-town girl who mauled him with her mouth.”
Gah I love this new batch of Lovewell lumbersnacks. Caught In the Axe picks up after Daphne Elliot’s Lovewell Lumberjack series. A family in disarray and a young woman trying to carve a place in the world and escape small-town scrutiny. Owen left his life in Boston to help his siblings prepare the Hebert lumber business for sale. Lila Webster is a soft-spoken, kindhearted, hardworking beauty. When a lucrative job opportunity arises, she pounces on the opportunity, despite who her boss will be. While I liked Lila from the start, it took me a little while to warm to Owen. Once Hebert family dynamics began settling and Lila began breaking down his walls, his charming nature shined through. Romantic, alpharoll, lumbersnack Owen is my favorite. On the flip, Owen’s acknowledgment of Lila’s brilliant business acumen brings her confidence out with a boss bish ferocity that had me cheering. I loved the Momcoms and Gagnon family character cameos! Caught in the Axe is a great series starter and I cannot wait for more Hebert brother HEAs! If you’re looking for a fun blend of small-town swoon, big city opulence, found family, and steamy forbidden love, you’ll love Caught In the Axe!

Just wasn't invested in the story. It was moving a little slower than I would have liked.
Overall I enjoyed it. Lila was sometimes a little annoying. I feel like some small things weren't totally resolved. I'm interested to see what happens in the next book with Gus' story.
medium-paced
This didn’t need to be 500 pages - all the Boston second family stuff was unnecessary as was the last minute injury that didn’t change anything.
I liked the small town aspect to it although I wish that had been expanded on (which is maybe something that happens in the sequels?)

I love a pun, however, I did NOT love this book. Some parts were cute, but it didn't feel like the first book in the series. There were too many other relationships and events to keep track of concerning the family, friends and town. There were too many plot lines on the periphery. Every mention of one of his five brother's step kids just pulled me out of the book.
There is another book series, but it's about the previous generation, so I don't think that would help.
