Me? Falling for a Hebert?! Who knew! Okay, I did completely fall for Finn in Wood Riddance, so I shouldnโt be completely surprised that another lumbersnack won me over, but holy heck, Owen Hebert has arrived. Heโs back in Lovewell, reluctantly, to help his brothers sort through the mess their dad left them. And this man is completely in over his head. Yes with work, but especially with his new assistant, Lila. His little brotherโs ex-girlfriend. From the beginning heโs drawn to her, and he doesnโt even stand a chance. This man is so infatuated. Literally so far gone for her. He tries to convince himself there canโt be anything between them, yet he shows up for her time and time again, before realizing he wants to see what they could have. And when that happens, heโs determined to be there for her in whatever way sheโll let him. But oh my god this man had me swooning with everything he did. His love language has to be acts of service. Or maybe words of affirmation because I was living for the way he helped build Lila up. I absolutely loved watching her confidence grow throughout the book. She deserves the absolute world, and thereโs no doubt in my mind that Owen will help her get there (even though she could totally take on the world herself). I loved getting to see the Gagnons again, especially since we have Finn & Adele to tie these two families together, but I cannot wait for more of the Heberts and watching them taking back their name after their father ruined everything. I especially need more on Gus immediately because what the heck was that ending Gus?!?!?! Iโm so happy to be back in Lovewell, and I know this is going to be another incredible lumbersnack series. Iโm so ready for more.

Owen, has made a life for himself in Boston but when his brothers need his help seeing the family business after their father is arrested for a whole tone of federal crimes he has no choice but to return to Lovewell, Maine. And when his new assistant turns out to be his younger brotherโs ex girlfriend Lila; who is not only breathtakingly beautiful but a literal maths genius, he struggles to keep his head down and his hands-off.

Oh these two! Owen and Lila will make you swoon, giggle, kick your heels and shed a few tears. They both have had their struggles but the way they support one another is just a joy. I loved Owens acts of service, his maturity that he brought to the relationship and his communication skills. Lila maybe younger but I adored seeing her come into her own [thatโs what we call growth] and her recognising what she wants in life and choosing not to settle. They both had chemistry from the start and tried so hard to not give in but there was no doubt in my mind that when they did it would be worth the wait.

Overall, I adored this book. I had so much fun seeing the Gagnonโs again but loved getting to know more about the Herberts back story and they are very much coming for the title of the favourite Lumberjack Family in Lovewell.

So cute! Loved this.
Owen is a grumpy boss man who is only focused on fixing his fatherโs mistakes and the family business in Maine so he can go back to Boston where he lives. Until he meets Lila who was hired to be his assistant to help him with the business. He canโt put his finger on it but she is somewhat familiar. Until he remembers that Lila is his half brothers long term ex girlfriend (who he is not close with). Lila is finally focusing on herself and her goals/dreams. And isnโt going to let a man or the town change her mind. But when Owen returns home he might change her plansโฆ torn between wanting her goals accomplished and her heart she doesnโt know what to do. Owen falls in love at first sight but respects Lila and her boundaries. What will happen.. read to find out.

Forever in my Lumbersnack era thanks to Daphne's books and Owen Hebert is no exception! This man left Lovewell as soon as he could straight out of high school, doesn't act or look like your typical Lumberjack, but you can take the man out of Maine, but you can't take Maine out of the man!
I was so excited for the Heberts after the last series and this book did not disappoint. It has all the intrigue and suspense I've come to expect from a Daphne Elliot book, along with banter, a swoony MMC, whip-smart FMC, and the oh-so-steamy moments!!
Owen comes back to help his brothers with the family business after their father leaves it in shambles with his criminal activity. Owen wants to sell it off and he needs help getting everything in order. Enter Lila Webster, his younger half-brother's ex-girlfriend. Lila is brilliant and beautiful and before he recognized who she even was, he was a goner. But once he realizes he shouldn't want her and can't have her, that's when the real trouble starts.
These two were amazing together. Owen and Lila really bring out the best in each other and there was no way they were going to be able to resist the temptation.
I'm so excited for the rest of this series, especially Gus' book after that little teaser about what's to come. I look forward to more suspense and cameos from some of our favorite Lovewell residents, including that chaotic moose! Thank you to Daphne and team for the arc!

Owen is an adorable cinnamon roll who knows how to spoil Lila. There is so much good tension between them and I ate it up. Sadly, Remy is still my favourite lumbersnack ๐คค but Owen gets a little piece. I loved being back in Lovewell Maine and seeing how the Gagnon are doing and I am super excited for Gus story. That epilogue got me. I need Gus and Chloe story

This is a wonderful opening for the Maine Lumberjacks series. This is a spinoff of the Lovewell Lumberjack series and also has a call back to Mother Hater (Mom-Coms #4). So, You don't have to read the Lovewell series (I haven't) or Mother Hater (I did) to enjoy this book, but it's fun to have met Owen previously. I can't wait to go back and read the Lovewell Lumberjacks to get more on the Gagnon's because they're also in this series and they seem like an amazing group of men.
On to Owen and Lila. Here's what to expect with them and their story:
๐ช Age Gap (28 and 38)
๐ฒ Boss/Employee
๐ช Forbidden Romance
๐ฒ Ex-Boyfriendโs Older Brother
๐ช Geeky Lumberjack
๐ฒ Slow Burn
๐ช Small Town Romance
๐ฒ Spicy ๐ถ๏ธ
๐ช Grumpy/Sunshine
The organic way that Owen and Lila got to know each other and became closer and helped each other heal/move on from their past traumas gave me all the feels. I loved how she already knew a little bit about him and he had to learn about her. The way he supported her and built her up and appreciated her and encouraged her was *chefs kiss*
I can't wait for book 2! Thank you, Daphne and The Author Agency for this ARC. This is my honest opinion.

First and foremost, THANK YOU to Daphne for the chance to read this e-ARC! If you told me last year I would be in a Lumberjack Era, I would have politely smiled and patted your arm. Never say never since apparently the kind Daphne writes about are DELICIOUS and enough to have me rocking flannel in the spring time.
Lila is another FMC who is relatable AF - she found her person young in a small town, hitched her wagon to his dream of pro-hockey and proceeded to follow him, support him, dedicate her life to him as he tried to get with a professional team. The daughter of a teen mom in a small town, both geographically and minded, she loves her mom but grew to understand that her push to get her 'taken care of' by a man was not the way to find fulfillment and security. She's done the work and is a boundary-setting-and-keeping QUEEN. The way she continues to work on protecting her desires and dreams while pushing down her people-pleasing nature? AM I LOOKING IN THE MIRROR, OR..?
And then, she starts working for Owen - our MMC who's also run from the small town life in Lovewell and found his place in Boston, working his dream job, living a life of success completely unrelated to the family business in timber and away from the horrible memories that live there. As the 2nd oldest Hebert, he's convinced that he'll do his part by coming home to iron out the numbers needed to get their tarnished family business sold and be back to his comfortable, successful life in no time.
SURPRISE SURPRISE, there is *chemistry* between our determined-to-follow-her-dreams Lila and the "my life is perfect without the complications of a relationship" Owen. Clive, the infamous a-hole moose, makes a few appearances and we get to see realistic family interactions between siblings who either used to be close or were never close and how important family is even into adulthood.
If you like:
- watching the city boy (man, hello) find himself falling all-too-easily into the life of a rural lumberjack (maybe or maybe not at the carefully paid compliments of a certain someone)
- books that highlight the importance of always growing, working through the challenges of that growth, and being vulnerable
- mamas who may have had some things to say about the way their adult children did (or didn't) make great life choices..
.. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read this book. We get forbidden romance, ex-boyfriend's brother love interest, Celiac representation (and major acts of love in relation to this), and even some mystery as we continue to unravel just how deep Old Man Hebert sank his dirty roots into Lovewell.
