People dumping on this book see one pronoun that isn't he/she and instantly go slackjawed. It's a wonder folks are able to drive down the road while reading street signs.

It's also clear a hell of a lot more people need to go to a local Burn at least once in their lives.

This was a pretty good premise. Humans on Earth are about 50 years into a tentative post-capitalist re-prioritization of coming into balance with Earth's complex natural systems when Aliens show up and are like, "we're so glad we got here in time! Come with us before you destroy your planet!" Some of the humans are like, wait, no, we're finally getting it right, and the powerless capitalist humans are like, oooo good idea, will you buy our stuff if we come with you?"
