I greatly enjoyed this retelling of Frankenstein. It looked at Victor from the point of view of Elizabeth who had no real arc in the original. It reclaimed Justine as well and created a different point of view. I highly recommended this for any fan of the original or those who enjoy a dark but too creepy tale.
Best book ever, no. Probably worthy of 3.5 stars. Compelling, entertaining. Not the most realistic ending ever, but sign me up for the sequel.

Is it wrong to wish a book were a little more horrific? The "dark descent" in this novel is more about Elizabeth's discovery of her obsession's true self rather than her own descent to madness, and the story lost its steam when it should have been building for the climax. I enjoyed it, but was expecting more for a book peppered with praise about its spooky contents.
