I can't tell you how validating it was to read a romance about a woman who didn't know she was queer until later in life. The dialogue in this book is also top notch. I love the sass. Also, I found out that I don't always have to hate sex scenes, which is a pleasant surprise.

I enjoyed this book but didn't feel super connected to the characters. I found I got confused at which character was which even 60% in, though I imagine that's because of the audio. I found the narrators fairly similar somehow.

Amy and Sophie were good characters, though slightly annoying at times. Amy has to make the decisions for everyone and while I understand that, emotionally, it never really changed. She seemed to never really learn from it.

This is technically a 4.5 but I still loved it so much. I almost cried a few times when I hit closer to the end. The smut was immaculate and overall a pretty entertaining story (even tho it took me awhile to finish

• okay I don’t even know what to say about this one, and it only got two stars instead of one because the sex scenes were decent and I was able to finish it.
• it’s about a restaurant owner and her head chef and them allegedly falling in love.
• when I say these two characters had zero chemistry I cannot emphasize that enough. This should’ve been called a recipe for contempt and miscommunication.
 • if these two had been exes, their feelings towards each other  would’ve made so much more sense but as it was written it seemed like these two barely knew each other/ spoke but also they were somehow obssesed with each other? Idk weird weird vibes.
• the ending was so annoyingly abrupt and made no sense I can’t even fathom why it would end like that. I literally had to go back and re read to make sure I didn’t miss something.

I found the motivations of the main characters to be inconsistent, and a lot of the sections in one character's POV conflicted with what was seen from the other character's POV - which can be done well, but it felt more inconsistent rather than intentional. It made it hard for me to latch on to them, feel like I understood them, and root for them; I wasn't really invested in their relationship or the internal back and forth keeping them apart. It was more frustrating than anything. Also some of the spice scenes felt a little cheesy to me, especially for the new-to-wlw-spice character.

Also, a big reason I picked this book up was the reality cooking show angle, which didn't really appear until the last 10% of the book! They talk about it and meet with producers, but I really expected something more like Love & Other Disasters or Astrid Parker Doesn't Fail, so I was a bit let down that it wasn't a feature.

A little bit of a slog to get through due to the issues mentioned with the characters, but I do appreciate the representation, especially for an out later in life character and the importance of the authenticity of a bi identity regardless of what your relationship looks like.
