So fucking cute. Så her kommer nogle Rocky quotes: “Usually you not stupid. So why stupid. Question?” , “Fist my bump” , “Amaze!” , “I no let you die” , “Grumpy, angry, stupid. How long since last sleep, question?”.

I ended up really liking this book! Obviously, from a science perspective, it is extraordinarily impressive. Weir is able to make a sci-fi book about aliens be very scientifically based, so much so that it actually seems feasible to travel to other stars and meet alien lifeforms.
He also answers some interesting questions like
- if the world needed to come together to save itself, how might it do so?
- how might we be able to travel to other star systems with known scientific principles?
- if we met an alien life form, how would we communicate when we’ve evolved a different language, number system, AND physical modes of speaking?
- what is the value of a single life, human or alien?
There were points in this book that I felt were dragging on. Sometimes it felt like weir was explaining the science too much for a real plot and story to develop. My feelings on this sentiment changed by the ending. Weir provides a juxtaposition of Ryland rejecting his duty for project hail to giving up the rest of his life on earth to save the eridian people. It really showed his character growth. And then the ending of where Grace teaches the eridian children provides a really full circle moment.
Overall, this book was worthy of 3.5 stars to me

Really good despite all the science that I did not understand.
