King Arthur as high school DRAMA OMG. Quite a bit better than the adult Cabot I’ve read, actually, and there was at least one nice twist. Still the mental equivalent of candy floss, though. And not even, like, awesome maple candy floss from the Addison County Fair, to pick a very specific and increasingly ridiculous analogy. I think there need to be superheroes or buddy-cops to reach that level. At least for me.

I think maybe 1 1/2 sentences of this review were actually on-topic. I win!

I loved this book as a teen. Now that I’m almost 30, I can see the cracks in the plot devices, the silliness of some of the dialogue, and the cringe-worthy high school drama. But this book is still a very fun YA romp, and I’m a sucker for anything Arthurian. I like Ellie as a character - she’s a very classic teenager, but she has a distinct personality and a strong backbone. She’s an easy protagonist to get behind. Part of me wishes Lance and Jennifer were more interesting or better-developed. But again, this is a YA novel aimed at a teen audience. And as that, it works very well.

Just reread this and was again absolutely thrilled with it. I'm not much on her other teen books (princess diaries, american girl), but for some reason, this one always sticks with me. The mythology and how Cabot twisted it to make her plot. How fun Elle is and how dreamy Will is. I love the book completely.

*Note: It's actually 3 and a half stars.

the first time I read this book I think I was about ten. For the last decade I’ve held it in such a place in my heart that even now I grow more fond of it. Avalon High isn’t an in-depth and complex dissection of Arthurian myth and it doesn’t have to be. Its simplicity and quickness is fun and welcoming and I really enjoyed reading it again.

Loved it! What a funny, sweet, relaxing and cute book! The main character's manner of narration is witty, light and fluent, so reading the book is enjoyable and easy. This book is your perfect choice, if you want to take a break from angsty, tragic books and just have pleasure and fun!

what is the goal of this book, to juxtapose teen preppy with serious fantasy? i don't know what to think of this. i did like the narrator's voice.

I enjoyed this book. I was a love story with a twist if you believe what Mr. Morton says. The book had themes of good verses evil and the legend of King Author. A great combination in a good quick read.

yall. the writing in this, bad. the characters, generic. the retelling elements, lacking. also this is a personal thing but, I get wanting to put this book in Maryland, but like put more than a half an ounce of research into it? we are not all wawas (or even mostly).

sooo goooddd.
