Beautiful book. I liked how it was written, with attention to details of dress and setting, but essentially highly plot-driven (with a very satisfying ending!) Definitely owes in part to Synder’s lucid translation. I did enjoy the rivalries described in the book, and the author, despite the occasional blip, portrayed the women with great sympathy.
