Basically the first of only a few Koontz books I find worthwhile in any way (and damn have I read so many, haha)

It's not good. Meandering, soft-headed TV evangelist spirituality, and characters that don't act a bit like people. Add in a really bad climax and it's just 720 pages of nothing.

3.5 stars rounded up. I appreciate when science and faith intermingle in stories. This was slightly over-written, but the development of characters and the intertwining of lives was the payoff.

I picked this up on a recommendation from a friend and wasnt disappointed. Fortunately for me, it hooked me within the first chapter, as the author leads you down one path, only to smack you right in the face with something completely unexpected. So begins a novel of twists and turns that explore the use of quantum mechanics that ultimately leads to a struggle between an evil man and a child.

Bloated, turgid, melodramatic, sentimental tripe. Koontz at his worst.
