I actually really liked this!
I enjoyed the weird gray area explored between good and evil
I think Louis was a fun character and he was interesting to me

The ending felt a bit all over and it was weirdly paced, going slow then fast, then slow, then fast

But I overall enjoyed the book! I don't think I'll be continuing the series, but I'm glad I read this one

Some weird descriptions of children, can definitely be slow in places and I personally did not like Louis as a mc

It was fine? I can understand why it was classic at the time, but personally there was a lot of whiplash in style and it wasn't holding my attention consistently. The story is awkwardly broken up between two pieces--the first being the actual story of what's happening and the interesting part of the book, the second being a very skim-able, rather frustrating rehash of ideals of morality, what it means to be human vs monster, and feels a little like it's just borrowing what was already done in Frankenstein and rehashing it for a newer audience. This is one of those stories that I think if it was focused on what was actually happening to the characters and SHOWING me all these themes rather than TELLING me what I should think about them, I might've enjoyed it more. So much of it felt unfocused and like the author couldn't decide whether they wanted to tell the story of the characters or the story of the kid and his moral struggle as develops in the latter half of the book. *massive shrugging* I don't know. Maybe not for me, but an okay "classic" for its time, I guess.

Just decided that gothic horror is not what I was in the mood for

Unfortunately the TV show is just better

Being fr tho I did enjoy reading this as the source material- it was interesting to see what was changed or added to the story, and I do understand why it was so revolutionary at the time of publication. This book is G A Y

3.5. sigh* I guess I had too high of expectations of this book after watching the tv series…the novel itself is more bleak and full of despair of being gifted with eternal life…a lot of woe is me and everyone around me is equally horrible
