I think I liked this book in the beginning much more than I did toward the end. It seemed to lose some of its fire and I really struggled to pay attention to some of the longer passages dedicated to Louis's philosophizing.

I thought many of the characters a little overdone and not very relatable, but I guess as vampires, they aren't really supposed to be that relatable.

I'm going to continue to follow the series for a bit to see if it picks up. I'm hoping the following books will be better than this one. I really didn't like Louis that much, so hopefully I'm able to be more enamored with future characters in the series.
