The first 50% really gripped me. Once a certain thing is revealed, I went "that's it?". If you are not into violence or sensitive to it, not a book for you. I found it violent but not overly graphic (just outlines what's happening).

The acts in this book are absolutely horrific, which I was NOT expecting, but the book was a good thriller and the character development is excellent. Just be aware that a good chunk of it essentially turns into torture porn.

such a gripping read!! one of the only times i found myself unable and unwilling to think of a resolution - I let the book tell the story without cutting it off at the head (pardon the expression) 
at times a bit long-winded and drawn out, but i kinda liked it that way. very disturbing
