I first started to read the book because my friends loved the movie and the book, but I was purely disappointed. I only finished it because I thought it would be better, and I was right it did get better, but only in the last 7 chapters. I give this 2 stars because as a book it's a great plot but if this happens in real life this is too messy.
Like couldn't Laura Jean say she was over Josh instead of kissing Peter like can't you use your brain? And the fact that she couldn't pick between Josh and Peter is just annoying. I kept saying to choose one or none. Luckily Laura Jean learned how to manage the house which I would not be able to do, so I'll give you that for being mature.
And her sister (Gogo or something) was kinda annoying too. Like if you are not over Josh says you need a break because I'm going to college. No need to break up and make yourself miserable.

So what I want to say is this book isn't for you if you hate the movie, or drama, or if you believe that women need no man.

This gurl writes letters to boys she like and then they got sent to the respective boys without her knowing, and know she is/was screwed

<spoilers> ngl Margorete and Josh were kinda a-holes towards the end, also Kitty, a 10 year old,  has her life together than me, a 16 year old ;-;.

10/10 Dad 💫💫

Also good ending, and probably going good read next book :)

,,,,jenny han is very slick with that ending. since i had seen the movies and wasn't a huge fan of the 2nd one, i wasn't planning on reading any further than this first book. also i mainly read this bc the summer i turned pretty show came out and i wanted to read the book first, but i knew bc i had started reading this in 2018 and never finished, i wanted to tie up the loose ends.
the way it doesnt end with any sort of resolution for the relationship between lara jean and peter 😭😭😭 like girl ‼️ now i have to read the second book!
anyways if u catch me dnfing the sequel thats just cause idgaf abt john ambrose mcclarren

I didn’t like the main character and i wasn’t hooked to the story so i sold this book and the rest of the trilogy. I did watch the movies which i also didn’t like.

This was a reread for me and I found myself being a little more bothered on the second reading than on the first with so many of the characters. At a certain level, it was incredibly realistic because Peter was kind of a doofus and so was Josh as 16/17-year-olds often are which on one hand is nice, but on the other hand, I found myself annoyed on behalf of Lara Jean that she had to put up with so many shenanigans from them.

I also felt so sorry for the Song girls because they had to step up WAY before their time and, in that, lost out on being children, and that's just such a bummer. Margot has got some serious stuff to work through, and all three girls don't seem to get the adult guidance they crave.

That said, the romance is lovely, and it feels so true to life which is a hard thing to capture, so kudos to Han. I love how much the Song/Covey family really does love each other, even if they don't do the best job of caring for one another.

I know this is just the start of the series, so I'm looking forward to rereading the rest of the series and seeing more of that character growth that I know is coming.
