Extremely informative - SO many statistics from the US, UK, and more about how our world is truly designed for men. The author describes the ways that women are an afterthought and at a disadvantage as a result of systems not considering women and their characteristics and needs. Fir example, did you know that most medicine clinical trials only use men, while women make up 80% of those who take medications? As other reviewers state, there is no mention of trans or gender-nonconforming people in a book that's all about gender bias, which seems odd. I think it would've been nice if the last chapter was a bit about ways that we're progressing in this front and provide a call to action to let readers know what we can do to promote gender data equality. Everyone - but especially men - should read this book.

Really interesting read. Full of citations and perspectives that I had never heard from.

DID NOT FINISH: 60%

Poorly cited (the author will list citations but they either don't say what she's claiming, they're dead links, or from biases/irreputable sources), and so much conjecture. I wanted to love it I really did, but the biological essentialism and stretching of the truth to make claims frustrated me far too much. There's so much in here that's genuinely interesting and useful if it were to be put together by a more competent author.

This book is extremely eye-opening. All of the data mentioned is set in the gender binary as it focusses on cis women so I'd be curious to see how similar systems are affecting trans and nonbinary people as well.

Fantastic read. Puts the statistics and facts to a problem that I previously recognized but could never imagine the scope of. Eye-opening to see just how much of daily life is crafted by/for men while simultaneously having the largest impact on women.
