I teared up at the end, damn it.
I can't lie, Asher really grew on me. I think he's one of my favorite character for the time being. I added half star because we legit had the word aromantic on page, in non-slut-shaming, positive (!!) way and I loved it. I love it how the two books I have read from this series, the gay MC has a emotional supportive a-spec. I honestly need more of this in my life.
And half a star just because Asher is who is he.
There's only two things I can critique: I wish we had more of was Kole's character. I feel the narration was so focused on Asher (no complaints here) that Kole was a little left behind? I would have love it if the book had gone in more depth on his relationships with his father and hockey and I felt there's something more of Kole being just a "late bloomer" in high school? Maybe I'm reading too much into it but it felt like a missed a opportunity to give Kole's character more depth.
Another thing that surprised me, considering there are two authors, was that at times it was hard to tell apart the two POVs. I don't know if it was just a "me" problem being distracted but there were a few times I got wrong which POV I'm reading and only the character having unusual for them thought/behavior made me realize I'm reading the other's POV. This is solely a writing issue, which, again, is surprising when there are two different people writing the book.
