pifferdiff's review against another edition
I've been a Nancy Drew fan since the age of 8 or 9, and while none of the new versions ever live up to the original stories, I can't pass up the chance to check them out when they're at the thrift/charity shop. Nancy Drew manga? For 70p each? Of course I'm going to buy them!
In terms of this actual book, I couldn't decide whether to be amused (some of the characters' dialogue was great) or cringe at some of the story (e.g., apparently in a previous novel Nancy outed a woman who was really a man? Yikes, that's not okay). I'm thinking the story in the other volume I picked up might be more my taste (less stereotypically girly), but I did love that Nancy was still the hero and solves the crime even when she's the one who gets kidnapped.
