I really struggled to get into this book, so much so that it sat abandoned one third of the way through for weeks. However, after I decided to push through, I found it surprisingly easy to continue and ended up finishing it in one sitting.

The second half of the book was much more enjoyable for me personally, placing me in some sort of fever dream. While I found the character of Harry insufferable at times (I think this was intentional?), I also found his journey into his identity facilitative of my own reflections. 

While I’m not sure this is a classic that everyone should or would enjoy, for those who enjoy books that criticise society and the self (albeit in sometimes convoluted ways) this one is definitely worth picking up.
