DNF'd. I really enjoyed reading Magic Lessons and wondered how the author would handle a contemporary non-paranormal romance. Sadly, this novel seemed to be a re-imagining of Wuthering Heights set in a small-town New England area. I am not a fan of Wuthering Heights...at all.
Needless to say, I found all characters problematic and toxic as can be. I didn't really care what happened to anyone. And after I read some reviews about what was going to happen, I just didn't want to continue reading a book that would annoy me. Even though the author has a beautiful writing style, I just couldn't continue with this book.

Good, quick read that definitley kept me engaged but I felt it was a bit predictible. I'd recommend it if you are looking for a good beach read.

Something about this book haunts me, I reread it every few years. Very much a modern-day Wuthering Heights.

I read this having read and loved other books by this author and because I know my mom read it in the 90s. I liked the beginning, but the more it went on, the less I liked it. I could not stand any of the characters. I have never read Wuthering Heights and wonder if that is the reason for these characters being the way they are, but I found myself rooting for no one.

Don't bother. The story is horrible and not worth your time. Especially when it comes to cousin love.

This book was really good, and I liked it, but it was a bit too depressing for me. I think at the end I wanted to throw the book at the wall, even though it was a good book.

Another beautiful story by Alice Hoffman, though deeply sad. Her descriptions of places and especially of towns make me want to run away to some small place in New England, but also make me feel as though the place she is describing is all too familiar - the sign of a brilliant writer.
