Dream Town by David Baldacci is as usual easy to read due to the wonderful way the author has with the language. Although I found it to be not as good as the two first books in this series it still captivates and has lots of fun chapters. I hope Baldacci will continue this series since I have alway been a fan of the hardboiled and noir detective genres and we need more books set in a time that is not the present.

Read this in a sporadic manner for the first few chapters and my was it hard to keep track of all the characters! There’s lots of moving pieces and the entire story is quite convoluted, with several unexpected twists and turns. I get why some readers might be turned off, but it was satisfying to see Archer’s breakthrough! My heart broke for him at the end though… Despite the slow pacing of the Archer series, I’m excited to see what the next novel holds since this book represents his turning point as a full-fledged, independent gumshoe!

Another enjoyable blockbuster
Strong reminder of the great old black and white 1960s detective films
I could imagine Robert Mitchum or Burt Lancaster in the lead role
Looking forward to his next sequel

Just not my fav of Baldacci. When you read his books, you expect a complex plot and underlying issues and this was just a little too old school detective movie for me.

This whole series is a great diversion from the standard suspense, serial killer, etc fare I’ve been reading. The Humphrey Bogart feel of the whole thing is really cool to listen to on the audio book.

Book had too many long descriptions of landscapes and people. Not necessary to the story in my opinion. Also, too many characters to keep track of.
