Romanzo che conclude la Saga di Ramses. L'ultimo nemico di Ramses sembra quasi creato ad hoc per poterci raccontare l'ultima parte della vita di questo grandissimo personaggio storico e giustificare con uno sforzo di fantasia alcuni fatti ricavati dall'interpretazione dei reperti archeologici, come le varie feste di rigenerazione, la costruzione della tomba KV5 dove erano state probabilmente raccolte le mummie di un gran numero dei suoi figli reali, il mantenimento della pace con l'impero ittita, l'ascesa di Iset al ruolo di Grande Sposa Reale e i successivi matrimoni diplomatici. Come nei precedenti volumi, trama scorrevole che si legge veloce e storia che appassiona.
Vi consiglio di leggere tutta la saga completa, non ve ne pentirete, soprattutto se siete appassionati dell'Egitto e delle storie dei Faraoni.

I think this book wrapped up the series nicely. It wasn't as slow as the 3rd and 4th books in the series. Things moved along quickly as we go through the last year of Ramses II's reign. Going so fast, there was a lot that was skimmed and nothing went into great detail. I loved this series when I first read it 10+ years ago, but now I can see the flaws. It's not great writing (it is a translation, so that factors into the writing) and the chapters are super short and not plotted well. It is an interesting life, but could have been told better.
Wat een prachtig boek weer. En zo makkelijk te lezen. Ik vind het jammer dat de serie nu afgelopen is.
