I thought this was a pretty good spy romance (closed door) but the main character and her negative self-talk got to be grating after so much of it.

Is this book incredibly cheesy?  Yes.  Yes, it is.  But luckily, I love cheesy Spy stories.
This was really just a fun, fast-paced read.  And I really enjoyed it.

Fun romance but a slow burn (lots of sexual tension but nothing more than kissing on the page). Premise was fun & entertaining

i’m a huge fan of the “regular person gets caught up in an international spy plot” concept and this fit the bill. i liked the plot, i liked the characters, could’ve had more romance stuff bc then falling in love wasn’t super believable for me but that’s okay. overall fun

I'll start by saying that I think the storyline/plot was going in a good direction. A little predictable, but a fun time altogether.

For some reason though, the writing style and I just didn't get along. The author has more of a "tell, don't show" approach - with describing how smart Dove was or how hot Mendez was. The mix of insta-lust and constantly telling us that Mendez was attractive and could make any woman swoon was enough to put me off a bit.

Dove also just seemed a little naive. The CIA is good? She never thought they would sacrifice civilians? She constantly belives Mendez is on her side or that her sister could be not so innocent? Eh.

I think I'd be willing to read the rest normally but this book just caught me at a bad time with little patience.
