Look I’m not going to lie this was such a slow start and I didn’t care and thought about DNFing because I was so bored, but it did get more interesting and I actually cried doubting the ending, but that might be because of my PMS.

This book absolutely devastated me, in a way I was not expecting or prepared for. First, it’s an excellent thriller from start to finish. The storytelling is layered, the characters are complex (not to mention deeply flawed), and the emotional pull only gets stronger as you move through the story, up to the very last words.

Other things I liked: the differences in narrative voice are very well done. Though the story begins to shape up fairly early (in the first third) I was still fully engaged throughout the rest, as answers only opened up more interesting  questions. The writing itself was also very lyrical and nice. Read this!

Ooof. Though the foreshadowing leads you directly through the plot, the writing, the character development, it keeps you turning those pages. I thought I would rate it lower because of the predictability, but when I felt my eyes water towards the final part, I knew it touched me too much to not rate it close to perfect. Look forward to investigating Lisa Jewell's other works. Her fantastic delivery has me hooked.
