Started this book in bed at 11pm... and finished it at 7am. Whoops. Just so fast-paced and intriguing!! I had to solve the mystery.

It had me guessing on nearly every page what might have happened, and I got close but didn't quite figure it out. And I'm glad for that because it would havr been disappointing if there were no big reveal. It still wasn't the most earth-shattering reveal, but it kept me reading, and that's all I need.

Lastly, I didn't feel much emotion until the very last page. That last page broke me. Poor Ellie.

This was… okay. It was interesting enough for me to read it in a few days, but not enough that I wanted to stay awake to read more each night. 

The plot was a bit unbelievable, and entirely predictable - you know who has done what very early on in the book, and just need to keep reading to figure out exactly how. It also felt tense throughout without any big twist or climax, and finished feeling anticlimactic. The plot was a mixed pace, and sometimes lagged on with unnecessary repetition and explanations. 

All-in-all, I would not recommend to a fan of thrillers/whodunnits. I would cautiously recommend it to someone dipping their toes into the genre, or looking for a predictable and quick (but dark!) read.

I really enjoyed this book, it was well written with deep insights into what was going on in the heads of the different characters at various points throughout the story. There was just enough detail without it being too much and I was kept interested until the end. The story depicted really well how the main character developed as a person through all that she had suffered. All the loose ends were neatly tied up at the end of the story and something good came out of something bad. However, whilst the story was interesting, there weren't any exciting aspects to the story which stand out.

This is the first book I've read by the author Lisa Jewell, and I would like to explore other books she's written.  Highly recommended.

I liked this book but as someone that has dealt with recurrent pregnancy loss and happened to read it during my postpartum period, it was very triggering.
