Did I…like…maybe even love…a Sally Rooney novel? Not on my 2024 bingo card but I’m not complaining

the kind of thing that i really only read bc everyone else had.
not to say that its not good! i thought the conversations about god and grief were interesting. but i could not STAND peter and DREADED his chapters. it just felt clunky and he was so unpleasant. the definition of a “liberal” man who believes in feminism/liberation but is too comfortable in his own privilege to act on his beliefs.
not that i like ivan much better.
i think what i was mostly turned off by were the little things. when peter kept saying “her, the other” in reference to sylvia and naomi…yeah, no. and also there were so many comments on a woman and a man just being a woman and a man together a woman and a man side by side blah blah blah i dont CAREEEEE
