I sometimes pick songs that fit the 'soundtrack' of a book. For TBTWB, "The Catalyst" and "Burning in the skies" by Linkin Park are perfect. The lyrics and the mv fit the plot so well (but listen to them after you finish reading!).

More than the book that broke the world, this book had to be called 'the book that broke me'. It was really true to its name (literally and figuratively).

This second installment introduced new characters and new perspectives. Just like book 1, we saw the side of the oppressed and the oppressor, foe and friend, depending on the side from which you are 'reading'. This enabled me to see the story from different angles and to emphatise with all the characters despite sometimes they did things that angered me.

In book 1 we saw how different realities coexist at the same time and may mesh, misunderstand, interlope, clash, intersect like perpendicular lines. But this doesn't mean that we can always change the outcome of things... or we can?

And then there is the matter of time. Time may seem unique for everyone because we use clocks to measure it, but the library makes us see that it isn't. Time is subjective, and in this book it flows differently according to where you are and what is happening to you. And what are you feeling. If you enjoy doing something, it will always seem that time is passing too quickly. And too slow if you don't.
SpoilerAnd if you are planning revenge, which is a dish best served cold, a hundred of years may seem like nothing.

This book had a good balance between action and lighter moments. I made predictions as I read and I was surprised a few times. I can only half imagine what to expect from the last book, and I don't know if I am ready.

3.5 it answers lots of questions and the storytelling is as good as the first one but the tone switches so heavily that it lost me at parts. I will still read the third one.
