It felt a bit long and slow and there wasn't much new, we were just going back and explaining the first book more and setting up the third book.

First, I love the recap at the beginning with the note that the author will explain all the important things up front to remind readers instead of characters/narrators repeating things that have already been said in the previous book. Bravo!
This was a truly excellent sequel; however, I found myself wanting more Livira and Evar chapters. This book introduces some more characters, who I did like and appreciate how they advanced the plot (even if that didn't become clear until close to the end), but wanted more of all the characters I’ve already become attached to. Malar’s character arc evoked so many emotions in me! Arpix also had a lot of tremendous development. I’m surprised, but also not surprised by Yute’s story at the end. The reader is left wondering about the fates of a lot of the characters, so I am anxious for the next one to come out!!! I loved the magical and fantastical elements. This is definitely a series that I see myself thinking about and wanting to go back to for years to come.
