I can definitely see why this book won a literary award. So much of this story left me with more questions than answers--Torres creates a rich tapestry for points of discussion in a book club or academic setting. It's not the most compelling story I've read this year, and was at may points hard to follow. However, it definitely taught me some things about queer history and gave my mind a workout.

This is a DNF for me. I was looking forward to reading a LGBTQ novel but I don't like the writing style. I can't make heads or tails on what is really going on and stay focused on the story. I don't know if I will try to pick this up in the future.
