I liked it. I did. It wrapped up nicely and I had my doubts it would in just over 300 pages. It was very Captain Jack Sparrow and I enjoyed Alosa's wit and humor. Its always nice to have a well rounded main character.

I couldn't get past, however, Alosa's mother. Her storyline. Alosa spends her whole life not knowing her, being told she's a monster. But just like that she loves her unconditionally and without question. I get Alosa's father was literal scum but the Alosa I grew to know over these pages questioned almost everything. Looked at everything from every angle and looked for the doubt, for the trap. But when it came to her mother she just accepted it all and became unconditionally loyal to her after 17 years of not seeing or knowing her.

I had a huge problem with this. It felt forced. Like the author didn't know where she wanted to take the storyline in this sequel and rushed it. Had she taken the time and maybe wrote a longer sequl or made this into a trilogy, she could have spent the time to dive deep into that relationship and make it more complex. The way its written just didn't fit with Alosa's character development. It was disappointing and definitely left little to be desired. Took away from the storyline and distracted.

I enjoyed Alosa and Riden's development. Would have liked to see more of their lives after the big battle but, oh well. The other side characters also had wonderful personalities that definitely helped move the story along. I'm not altogether thrilled or disappointed with this one.

it’s a fun YA adventure romance book. It’s not emotionally complex but it’s not trying to be so I always prefer that (rather than books who reach beyond and end up muddling everything)

I’d love to read about more pirates and sirens. I think I’m rating it so highly because it’s something I don’t see much of. It’s refreshing.

Concussion read.

The finale of this pirate story with a strong female lead I didn't really like the lovestory. But the adventour on sea was thrilling and the highest for the treasure was good.

I preferred this book to the first. It was nice to see more of Alosa’s crew. And it was very action packed, which was nice. But to be honest, I felt like the characters were a little underserved and there was less focus on characterization thus time around.
