Catharina Maura to autorka, która w ostatnim czasie dopadła mnie na tik toku. Liczba filmików z cytatami z jej książek była tak duża, że nie wyobrażałam sobie tego, by nie zapoznać się z jej twórczością.
„Forever after all” to historia Eleny Rousseau i Alexandra Kennedy’ego.
Ona nie ma nawet dwudziestu czterech lat, a swoim doświadczeniem mogłaby obdarować połowę bohaterek. Dziewczyna potrzebuje pieniędzy na leczenie chorej matki i nie cofnie się przed niczym, by je zdobyć.
On jest wpływowym, przystojnym milionerem, który do objęcia fotela prezesa w rodzinnej firmie potrzebuje żony. Drogi Eleny i Aleca się skrzyżują i okaże się, że są tym, czego szukają. Elena ma spełniać trzy warunki: ma godnie prezentować się u boku swojego męża, ma być dobrą synową i rozkładać nogi przed mężem, kiedy ten tylko tego chce. Alec z kolei zajmie się finansowaniem leczenia swojej teściowej. Panna Rousseau wie, na co się pisze, że będzie to małżeństwo bez miłości i jej to nie przeszkadza. Jednak do czasu…
Czy ta historia jest czymś nowym na rynku? Nie.
Czy jest to ambitna lektura? Również nie.
Jednak jest to idealna książka na wieczór. Taka, która Was wciągnie i nim się obejrzycie, zorientujecie się, że czytacie już epilog.
Elena jest dobrze wykreowana, przez całą historię widzimy drogę, którą pokonuje i jak na końcu staje się Eleną Kennedy — nie tylko żoną milionera, ale kobietą, z którą trzeba się liczyć.
Alexander z kolei to typowy, książkowy milioner. Jest przystojny, każda go pragnie, a jemu to nie przeszkadza. Przez doświadczenia z kobietami, nie angażuje się emocjonalnie, przez co Elena jest dla niego tylko obiektem do zaspokajania potrzeb. Jednak od samego początku możemy zobaczyć, że Alec jakieś tam uczucia ma, a przynajmniej Elena coś w nim wzbudza. Mamy tutaj sporo scen erotycznych i muszę przyznać, że niektóre z nich były nie do końca potrzebne, jednak taki urok naszych bohaterów, że nie potrafią od siebie oderwać rąk. 
Oprócz relacji naszych bohaterów, mamy też bardzo fajną więź Eleny z jej teściową i bratem Alexandra. Chociaż są obcymi ludźmi, przyjmują ją do swojej rodziny. Z kolei jej własna rodzina się na nią wypięła i traktują ją jak Kopciuszka. Niezmiernie irytowały mnie sceny z ojcem dziewczyny, jej macochą i resztą tej chorej familii.
Spędziłam z tą historią przyjemny czas i polubiłam się z piórem autorki, przez co jestem ciekawa jej innych książek, które już na mnie czekają.

Too Steamy and sadly predictable.

Ok. Sex scenes work. I have nothing against them, but some of them... It was... It made no sense. I guess she was desperate but he was her former friend and just humiliated her continuously. I don't find humiliation sexy. Some of it... Yeah, hot, but most was humiliation and vulgar. Some of the sex didn't even further their plot. Just... Was there.
I knew the twists. I knew what the understandings would be. I predicted almost all of it except Lucien. Only thing that got me.

As this was the first book I have read by this author, I was so intrigued by the blurb that I couldn’t say no. To say that I wasn’t disappointed is BEYOND an understatement. I was blown away at the storyline, the concept, the backstory, absolutely EVERYTHING. The character build was beyond phenomenal as well. Elena fought tooth and nail for her mom and refused to give up. Alexander needed a wife to get further in the company. What stars as a marriage of convenience, turns into something so much more that neither expected even with ground rules laid out.
What I lived for in this story is the backstory behind it. There are so many twists and turns and jaw dropping what just happened moments that my mind was spinning and I was in awe of how it all played out so fluidly like magic. Maura has this stunning way with words and I am so going back to devour her whole entire backlist. It was pure magic. Absolutely all of it.

their relationship was so toxic and alec was just a straight up dick like he treated her like an object and somehow the girl FELL IN LOVE????? it felt like I was in the relationship bc I would get so annoyed with alec but I literally couldn’t stop reading and then somehow I finished the book …. Like me finishing a book I didn’t like??? Idk what happened
