This author had me in the first half, not going to lie. I devoured this book within the span of a few days. Why the 2 stars? The ending pissed me off that badly, ruining the rest of the book. I don't like giving low rating to books that have a solid story outline, and the majority was written really well.
HOWEVER
The last ... mm... 50 pages? Totally worthless. I get it, she's trying to assure that there is that love that her mother insisted that she get... but that was addressed WELL before the fricken 63rd chapter, and at that point it's repeating the past 200 pages that have already been read.
The last chapter, the wedding chapter - typed as if the 35 pages of dispute didn't happen. Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of 53 dates, but FUCK I almost DNF'd the book because of A) the disorganization of where the plot was going and B) how it went essentially no where, like the author wanted to make the story longer so was just seeing what stuck since the bad guys were caught and oh shit, the couple still has something to resolve.
It was a lot for the last little bit.

Beyond that, the character development of both A and E were phenominal. I loved the freindships that grew from E entering the Kennedy family. I feel, if the ending was done differently, this would have been a phenomial book.

I swear to god if Elena chose the option to stay at 89% of the book, i was gonna give this 2 ⭐️.

But my girl Elena doesn’t dissapoint

4.5 ⭐️

I’ve gotta say, I usually don’t like FMCs most of the time. They’re almost always annoying, but this is not the case with this book! I absolutely adored Elena! Especially after all she’s been through to keep her mom alive. This reads just like a dramatic soap opera so I know people are either going to love it or hate it. In my opinion, I loved it! Alexander is just so dumb to actually think Elena doesn’t love him and they literally had like two 3rd act breakups. The thing I love about Elena is she’s straight to the point and actually gets her feelings put out there instead of beating around the bush. The sacrifices she’s made for her mom is really commendable and I love her relationship with everyone in Alexander’s family including his grandfather. The amount of times Alexander uses the term “mine” just made me eye roll. Although his jealousy acts were kinda cute.

“Elena, I don’t know if I’m ever going to be good enough for you. I don’t know if I’ll ever be what you need. All I know is that I love you. I would rather spend a year with you than a lifetime without you. I’m willing to give you everything, Elena. I’m willing to give you my heart, and trust that you won’t break it. But even if you do, baby, even if you tear my heart apart, you’re worth it. You’re worth everything.”

•Marriage of convenience
•”Mine” vibes
•Possessive
•Dramatic soap opera
•”My wife” vibes
•Childhood friends to lovers

This was so freaking longggg. The second half dragged like you wouldn't believe. The CONSTANT making up and breaking up of the couple got annoying really quickly. And the reason they broke up was so dumb in the first place.
Some scenes made me cringe from how lame and dramatic they were.
Not even the smut was that good *gasp*
tense fast-paced

3.5

I just finished reading this book, and wow, it was a rollercoaster! The story starts with Elena in a really tough spot, willing to do anything to help her mom. Then she meets Alexander, who offers her a way out, but with strings attached. Their relationship is intense and full of twists and turns.

I loved how the characters were developed. Elena is strong and determined, while Alexander is complex with his own motives. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and it keeps you hooked till the end.

The plot is gripping, and you can't help but root for Elena as she navigates this unexpected turn in her life. The mix of romance and suspense is perfect, making it hard to put the book down.

Overall, if you enjoy romance with a bit of drama and the best marriage of convenience trope, this book is definitely for you. It’s a captivating read that keeps you engaged from start to finish.

A love I didn’t know I needed

Sometimes you just need a book to make you feel something. Whether it was the spice or the sweet love, I couldn’t tell you- but this book was it and I’ll be reading it again.
