A lot of people think this book is cliche... and even if it is, I loved it! The romance was really intriguing and the whole premise behind the plot is very understandable but interesting and unique.

Obsidian is a paranormal YA romance that held my attention from start to finish.  The story gave us mystery, danger, great banter, wonderful characters and I really enjoyed it.
The story follows Katy a human girl who ends up falling for her infuriating, arrogant hot neighbor who just happens to be an alien.

The romance was angsty and filled with tension. The non stop arguments and banter between Katy and Daemon had me glued to the pages and provided much entertainment. In the midst of all the arguing, there were some intimate moments where Daemon shows a different side of himself and I loved these scenes.
The secondary characters helped moved the story forward and I loved Daemon's twin sister Dee whose character really brightened up the story.

The plot was engrossing and had me at the edge of my seat throughout. The author did a fantastic job explaining the Luxen and their enemies, the Arum. The action scenes were well written and felt like I was watching a movie.

This was a fantastic read and great start to the series. I can't wait to start book 2 and would highly recommend this novel to paranormal romance lovers.

A YA book where the female MC isn't whiny, weak and clinging to the supernats in the story. It had some different ideas, yet the same as all the other YA paranormal romance. Just because the supernats are called aliens doesn't really change the same attitudes as the vamps or wolves or fae that all these type of books have. I also personally found it kind of boring and it didn't really move very much, but that may just be because it is a first book of a series, setting up character, world, magic systems.

If you’re looking for a wildly entertaining YA enemies to lovers book, look no further than Obsidian. This is such a bingeable book that you could easily read it in one sitting. The plot is fast paced which helps with the bingeability. The other element that helps make it so easy to binge are all the breadcrumbs that Armentrout wove throughout the story to hint at the true nature of the Black siblings. You know something is off, but you have to keep reading to see what it is. Armentrout is also a true master at wielding the enemies to lovers trope which will be immediately apparent in the “I hate that I want you” vibes Katy and Daemon have going on. The banter and push/pull between those two will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. Not only that, but Armentrout made sure Katy had a great girl squad around her and that the story wasn’t just the romance between Daemon and Katy. I was as invested in the friendship between Katy and Dee as I was in the romance between Katy and Daemon. I also thought Armentrout did a great job developing the Luxen and Arum as well as detailing the differences between the two. With how Armentrout ended Obsidian, I can’t wait to see where the story goes particularly regarding the new link formed between Daemon and Katy. I highly recommend picking this book up – it’s so incredibly entertaining.
