This is an audiobook for every music lover and every history buff! Questlove tells the story of multiple artists, albums, and musical influences along with the historical context that both affected and was effected by the music of the time. He shares personal anecdotes as well, and, if you're not a Questlove or Roots fan yet, I urge you to check them out. I can't recommend this one enough!

I really loved the layout of this book, and appreciated the effort by Questlove to make music history more understood in regards to it's alignment to actual history. There were some good a-ha moments too that had me think through something differently.
Overall though, for me it was too much. His thoughts need to be read slowly and picked apart and listened to (when he's talking about specific songs or albums), and admittedly I didn't take that kind of time when reading. Sometimes I felt a bit lost or rushed.
3 stars for me!
