First read in 3/2011. Reread on 11/4/11. Reread on 9/5/13. Reread/Listened to Audio: August 2018. Reread/Listened to Audio: July 2020. Reread/Listened on Audio: Feb 2023.

No matter how many times I read this I'm always sucked into the story and the world and the characters.

Still love this installment. Still one of my favorites.

The audio, as with all the others in the series, is amazing.

Even though I've reread this multiple times, I'm still engaged, I'm still just excited and eager to continue and read until the end.

Bowen and Mari are wonderfully fun and hot together. I loved seeing the other characters again; Cade, Rydstrom, Hild, Tera, and everyone else.

I can hardly wait to reread the next one.

Another one that is so close to being excellent and probably would be if Bowen wasn't so terrible. It took him so long to grow and Mariketa deserves so much better.

It was cool to get a look at beings who haven't settled into their immortality yet. It adds more to the world and the lore now that we're three books in.

If it was a bit less disjointed, if Mariketa got a love interest that was worthy of her, it could be the first five star book in the series. The end is really great, though. I just wish we didn't have to wait for that long for things to become more balanced.

Robert Petkoff keeps getting better as a narrator. This isn't about to stop me.

Apparently three books is how long it takes me to become completely enamored with this series. I LOVED this. The pacing was unusual but it worked. I loved all the memorable symbolism and the building relationship between two fantastic characters and oh man it was a BIG romance.

I’m rereading the Lykae books and loving them even more the second time around. This series is just amazing.

Everything better when Robert Petkoff reads it to you.

This book had me so frustrated throughout it that I almost was like this lead male is too stupid for the lead female. But the twist at the end… Wow!!!! Loved it!!! It’s rare I don’t see something coming, and I did NOT see that coming! Worth the extra angst, and it all came together in the end.

So far this has been the hardest book to get into. It starts slow and I wasn't invested or honestly interested in Bowen and Mariketa's story.
The ending was interesting but hard to follow, maybe because it went zero to sixty or because... I was struggling to stay interested throughout.

Pretty good but too long. Felt like two different books.
