I feel like I have nothing to say about this book. It was fine.

This one didn’t grab me right away like the first two Thursday Murder Club books did, but after a bit I was hooked again. I love this series for the funny and real main characters who always look out for each other. The messes they get their group into might work out a bit too neatly sometimes (as often happens in whodunnits!), but I want it to work out for these characters, and if life isn’t perfect, at least life in fiction can try to be. When can I move into
Coopers Chase??

This book is tricky for me to rate/review because it's a genre I read less often. From my familiarity (or lack thereof) with the genre, I thought this was pretty good. The plot checks out (i.e. makes sense), the characters are fun to follow, and I still get a good laugh from the O.G. crew and their various allies. I was a bit annoyed by the number of side plots working in parallel, and felt unnecessarily challenged trying to follow and remember each new character thrown into this installment of Osman's series.

I'm feeling mixed feelings about reading the next book, if for no other reason than that I'm not ready to accept where Stephen's storyline is going... Bogdan's getting choked up over it?! Don't do this to me!!

So I borrowed books 1-3 from my Mum and now i have to wait for her to read bk4!  I LOVE all of these characters and am especially heartened by the sympathetic portrayal of dementia.  KGB, London gangsters, tv personalities, so many larger-than-life personalities.  But I think the friendship between Bogdan and Stephen is my favourite thing.  Couldn't resist reading aloud some of Ron's thoughts about the couple's massage - to think I have so much in common with all these pensioners! (Honestly, I'm actually only 53). Beginning to talk about retirement living for my m-in-l, and am devastated that Coopers Chase is not an option for her (or me, in years to come!).  What took me so long to get around to enjoying these books?

Still funny and readable, so as enjoyable as the rest of the series in that sense. I did hit a few worldview snags in this one, where the morality being presented lessened my enjoyment of the story somewhat, hence the lower rating on this one.
