I read this book in a few hours. It gripped me immediately and I really loved it. Absolutely stunning writing and storytelling.

Jess is growing up in the 90's in a small, idyllic town.  Her relationship with her parents is complicated, she's in love with a childhood friend and her sister is dying.  And then she comes home to find that her beloved dog is not her beloved dog..... he's missing a scar and the spots on his stomach are not right.  All of a sudden, Jess's life unravels and a mad race to escape her current reality ensues.  The book explores family dynamics, sisters, technology with a little bit of a love story thrown in.  This book is a super fast read and short.  So short that character development was not fully flushed out and I wanted more depth.  Some of the plot seemed to move so quickly that relationships between the characters were not super believable.  But, if you are looking for something super quick with a propulsive plot- this may be for you.
