As a trans man, this book meant everything to me!!! There is not enough discussion about the female body in the role of humanities evolution, or really the female body in the role of anything. There’s often the assumption that female bodies are just male bodies, but with genitals swapped, buts that’s a flawed and dangerous assumption that Bohannon combatted with wit, compassion, and millions of years of mammalian evolution. By examining the past and how we got here, Bohannon offers a path for how we can change our ideas about sex and gender to make a better world for everyone.

I liked the evolutionary parts best... it was chock full of the latest research data and written in an engaging way. The last two chapters were a but more philisophical/feminist, and less engaging to me but still interesting and informative. Her breezy style worked much of the time, but in places was mildly annoying.
