I have never personally encountered magical sociopath/serial killer so this was a very fun book for me! I loved the mystery and the political plotting! Loved getting the Black Gryphon back too!

It turns out that a gryphon having a midlife crisis is not much more interesting than a human doing it.

Nice

Like the first in this series, it fills in some back story in the Valdemar universe We’ve heard about in other books, but never dove deep into. Not as strong as some other offerings, but the characters are starting to find their own voices here and present an interesting tale of “what happens after the tower fell”.

I did not like this one as much as I did the Black Gryphon but it was still very good.
