I don’t usually read biographies and I never thought I’d read one about a football player, but Drew Brees is something special. As a native of New Orleans, I already greatly respected and admired what he has done for my city, beyond football, and his personal faith, but reading about his life’s journey was very inspiring. ⚜️ However, years before I even started to take a real interest in football, I had huge respect for Drew and here is why. Hurricane Katrina was devastating and changed so many of our lives in so many ways (internally and externally). Even though football wasn’t on my radar much back then (didn’t watch or understand it), I was aware of things happening. Suddenly when the post-Katrina Saints team (now with Drew Brees) started winning, had their first home game in our Superdome (which we thought might be torn down), it gave the people who had gone through so much and struggling to try to rebuild their lives hope! If one of the worst teams in the NFL could rise up and have wins for their fans and a then few years later, win the Super Bowl, then surely our wrecked city could be rebuilt better than ever! There were so many doubters both for the city and the team. Back then I saw people in the midst of dealing with FEMA and so many other struggles with new hope in their eyes and begin to smile more. I wish I was already a true football fan back then and truly understood what I was looking at on screen, but I did watch the playoff and the Super Bowl win (I’d cheer and then ask “was that good?!”

II originally picked up this audiobook because I was interested on the rehab it took following such a horrific shoulder injury. However, it was filled with some good insider information on the NFL and some interesting descriptions of New Orleans post-Katrina. As far as the writing, it's serviceable, but not pretty. What do you expect from this kind of a memoir? It's basically meant to sound conversational.

At first, I was put off by all the God stuff. You know, God leads you to all this stuff because he thinks he can get you through it. I'm not gonna get into it here, but that's not what I believe. And hearing about that sort of thing over and over gets to be annoying if you don't buy into it. But Brees does have some worthwhile things to say on unplanned life events. It's always good to remember that "you can't control what happens to you, but you can control how you feel about it."

I really really enjoyed this book. Of course, it obviously helps that we are Saints fans and already fans of Drew Brees. He expresses his faith in this book and talks about both his personal and professional life, a good mixture of both. It really held my attention and kept wanting me to read more. And the message is wonderful - turning adversity into an advantage and finding something positive out of something negative that happens to you. After all, it all happens for a reason, God's plan for your life.

Love what he did for my state and team, but man was that barely a book. There were some good kernels among the saccharine self-help crap, but only a few

This was a fun and interesting read for me. Of course I am a HUGE Drew Brees fan so my rating is probably a little biased! :-D If you are a Drew Brees fan, then you really should read this book.

I got this book for free, so I figured I’d give it a shot. I like Drew Brees as a person and football player, but this was just okay for me. The overall message is a good one, but it’s super repetitive

Ah Drew, you're sweet, but you repeated entire paragraphs from chapter to chapter. Maybe you didn't expect your target audience to read the whole thing. The pictures in the middle are so cute.
