The stories of the three characters in this book are riveting. I enjoy a book that has me emotionally connected to the characters and what they are going through. I hope there is a sequel.

I listened to the audiobook. The narration was terrible due to the awful accents mimicked. It was difficult to listen. Had this been an audible book, I would’ve given up and returned the book after the first couple of chapters. Maybe it’s a better read than listen.

This book was incredible. I listened to it mainly because of the Swedish but still an awesome experience. The way the author described the three characters in detail and wove their stories together so well, I couldn’t stop listening! Mina’s story was the realist to me. I had never sat and thought what life was like for a refugee trying to survive in a world so focused on self. Kemi’s story is the one I most relate to. Struggling to be her amazing self in a workplace that didn’t appreciate all the amazing things she had to offer. Brittany’s story scared me the most. I was just so worried for her and by the end I was stuck. I can’t wait to read the next novel.
Also Brittany wanted to name her baby Whitney if it was a girl

This book deserves all the stars. I love learning about other countries and cultures while I read, and following the journey of these three ex-pats living in Sweden fit that bill perfectly.
Really well-written book. It is a hard read as each lady had a hard and difficult road. It was interesting getting to see how they all reacted to their situations and to see what they faced being black and from different backgrounds. I really felt the author got her point across with having such strong black women each with their own personalities, histories, baggage, ambitions.

This book went no where fast and then careened towards the end. This book was highly disappointing!
